Around 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the state, generating powerful gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Ice Stones and Extensive Damage

Locals reported giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.

State Emergency Services received over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

• Hoppers Crossing - numerous rescue reports
• Wyndham region - over 175 emergency requests

At one point on the previous day, more than 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.

Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
