It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
